Adrenal Restoration Measures (Stress & Burn-Out)

TIRED AND BURNT OUT?  You may be suffering from pur old adrenal exhaustion. In today’s high stress world a lot of people are suffering physically for their burn out. 

Diet
· Whole foods · Avoid refined sugar · Avoid alcohol
· Adequate protein · Eliminate/Reduce Caffeine.  It works for awhile but has a horrible rebound effect when it quits working, stressing out the adrenals.
· Avoid all allergic foods, which can weaken the system and can be an adrenal stressor. Ask about food allergy testing.
· Fasting and detoxification/cleansing diets should be avoided, at least initially.

Nutritional/Botanical support

DOCTOR’S A-Z food supplements:  Relora is excellent for stress, carbohydrate cravings and help w/ sleep( 1TIDor 2BID), Mood Health (1 BID), Licorice Root Supreme(1-2 BID), Ginseng Multi Supreme (1-2 BID)

Or BIOTICS food supplements: ADHS (2 w / b-fast & lunch), Cytozyme-AD(2 TID), Bio-Glycozyme, Bio-Multi Plus, SeriPhos, and others
· Ginseng: Has adrenal-support activities, can increase resistance to a whole load of stressors, can prevent shrinking of the thymus gland and can prevent adrenal overactivity. Can prevent adrenal atrophy.
· Licorice: It can increase adrenal hormones and is extremely useful in correcting low cortisol states, giving the adrenal glands a “rest” and chance to restore. Can help prevent shrinking of the thymus and immuno-suppression from excess bodily cortisone. Licorice (2 -3X/day)

Stress management
· Get adequate sleep. 7-8 hours of sleep beginning at 10:00 p.m. is much more restoring to the adrenals than 8 hours beginning at 1:00 a.m. Nap, if needed, but not enough to interfere with night sleep.
· Relaxation: Breathing or skilled relaxation exercises, listen to relaxation tapes, meditate, biofeedback. Schedule an appointment to discuss these techniques.
· Accept nurturing and affection
· Laughter
· Counseling

Exercise
· Light-to-moderate exercise. Do not push yourself and begin at a level that you can handle.

Natural light
· Get outdoors into natural light as much as possible. Direct sunlight is not necessary. Natural light is essential for healthy adrenal function.
· Use full spectrum lights in the home and work area.
